Happy Juneteenth, Caddo Parish!
Juneteenth (short for "June Nineteenth") commemorates the effective end of slavery in the United States. It marks the day in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that all enslaved people were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.
In observance of the federal holiday, the Parish of Caddo’s administrative offices are closed Friday, June 19.
