Completed in 1939 as one of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “New Deal” public works projects, the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum is an architectural jewel, layered inside and out with costly marble, granite and polished aluminum. Its front portico features a two-story fresco executed by the famed muralist Conrad Albrizio and the beautifully rendered scale dioramas(valued at millions of dollars!) that make up the bulk of the exhibits are like a snapshot of Louisiana life in the 1930s.
