The Caddo Parish Commission has adopted its new parish-wide Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

The Master Plan was a two year long collaboration with the Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department, City of Shreveport-Public Assembly and Recreation Department(SPAR) and consulting firm SJB Group. The development process of the Master Plan was tedious and inclusive, involving public engagement meetings and online surveys with Caddo Parish citizens and  park departments staff.

“This Comprehensive Master Plan gives Caddo Parish citizens a snapshot of how they envision their park systems within the next 10-15 years. From this plan, Caddo Parks and Recreation Department has already established strategic priorities, goals and objectives that will surely strengthen the delivery of services to all citizens of Caddo Parish and visitors”, said Patrick Wesley, Director of Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department.

The Master Plan will serve as a blueprint for future development and enhancement of public parks, open spaces, greenways, trails, recreational and leisure services in Caddo Parish through 2035. In addition, the Master Plan highlights the importance of preserving natural, recreational and cultural resources, and promoting responsible growth and fiscal planning.
