The Caddo Parish Commission is heartbroken by the senseless act of violence in Shreveport this morning. We mourn the loss of eight children taken far too soon and are keeping those recovering from their injuries, their families, and everyone affected in our thoughts and prayers.
There are no words that fully convey the enormity of this loss. Today, we stand united in grief and in support of our community. We extend our deepest condolences to the families facing unimaginable heartbreak and want them to know they are not alone, as our entire parish stands with them.
We are grateful for the swift response of our area law enforcement, first responders and medical personnel, whose courage and care are a testament to the strength of our community. We continue to lift them up, as we cannot imagine the toll that situations such as these take on their hearts and minds.
In the days ahead, the Caddo Parish Commission will remain fully engaged and present, working alongside our local and state partners to ensure that every available resource is mobilized to support victims, families, and the broader community. We are committed not only to immediate response, but to the long-term healing and recovery of our parish, and we will continue to listen, respond, and stand with our residents every step of the way.
We encourage anyone experiencing domestic violence or in need of support to seek assistance, and want to remind our citizens that help is available right here in our community. Local organizations and advocates are available to provide confidential services, safety planning, and access to critical resources. Our local Domestic Violence Hotline is 888-411-1333. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911.
Together, we will move forward in the wake of this profound loss.
