CADDO PARISH COMMISSION PROVIDES INFORMATION ON PROPOSED INDOOR SPORTS COMPLEX
CADDO PARISH, LA— The Caddo Parish Commission held a special meeting Friday to provide information about the proposed Caddo Parish Indoor Sports Complex ahead of the November 3, 2026 ballot.
The proposed project follows recommendations from the Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department’s 2023 Comprehensive Master Plan, which identified a need for expanded athletic and recreational opportunities throughout the Parish.
Proposed plans call for a more than 170,000-square-foot indoor sports complex, with a recommendation from the Commission’s economic development committee along the I-20 corridor. The facility would accommodate a variety of sports and activities, including basketball, volleyball, pickleball, gymnastics, martial arts, cheerleading and dance, while providing space for tournaments, competitions, camps and clinics.
Economic projections presented to the Commission estimate the complex could attract approximately 136,500 out-of-town overnight visitors over five years, generate more than 31,700 hotel room nights and produce approximately $20 million in direct economic impact for Caddo Parish and the surrounding region.
The complex could also serve as an anchor for a broader public-private development opportunity involving up to 200 acres, with potential for outdoor athletic fields, retail and entertainment, aquatics, concert space and other amenities that could complement the sports complex and support additional tourism and economic activity. The facility is also intended to provide year-round recreational opportunities for Caddo Parish residents, including recreational leagues, team practices, fitness and wellness programs, youth activities, camps and clinics, and programming for residents of all ages.
The proposed project would be primarily funded through $60 million in general obligation bonds, with additional project costs funded through other potential sources, including the Parish general fund, oil and gas revenue, naming rights and other revenues. The project does not create any new taxes or any increase in taxes.
The Parish will host three additional community meetings to provide information and answer questions about the proposed sports complex.
