NATIONAL SPORTS TOURISM ORGANIZATION JOIN GROWING LIST OF ENDORSEMENTS FOR PROPOSED CADDO PARISH SPORTS COMPLEX

CADDO PARISH, LA – The proposed Caddo Parish Indoor Sports Complex received an additional endorsement from the Sports Events and Tourism Association (Sports ETA), and several organizations representing individuals with disabilities and adaptive athletes.

The latest endorsements join a growing list of individuals and organizations that have previously expressed support for the proposed complex, including the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports; Visit Shreveport-Bossier, the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, and the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, among others.

Sports ETA, a national trade association representing more than 800 member organizations and 2,400 sports event professionals, has endorsed the proposed complex, citing its potential to attract regional and national sporting events and contribute to the local economy. The facility is projected to generate more than $20 million in direct economic impact and attract approximately 136,500 overnight visitors during its first five years.

“The timing could not be better,” said John David, President and CEO of Sports ETA, referencing increasing national demand for indoor sports facilities capable of accommodating competitive sporting events.  The proposed 173,600-square-foot indoor sports complex would accommodate basketball, volleyball, pickleball and a variety of additional sports, including adaptive athletic events. The proposed site is located along the Interstate 20 corridor in west Shreveport.

The proposed complex has also received support from several state and local organizations representing individuals with disabilities and adaptive athletes, including Special Olympics Louisiana, the Brain Injury Association of Louisiana/United Spinal Association of Louisiana, Louisiana GUMBO Inc., Perfect Fit Autism Foundation and the Northwest Louisiana Community Tennis Association.

These organizations have identified opportunities for expanded access to year-round recreational facilities, inclusive athletic programming and the potential to host adaptive and para-sports competitions.
