EMERGENCY RENTAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM NEARS COMPLETION; DEADLINE TO APPLY JANUARY 19
Caddo Parish, LA – After serving over 14,000 families in Caddo Parish and issuing over $32,476,736 in assistance, the Parish’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) will stop accepting applications due to the completion of expenditure of funds. The deadline to submit all applications for funding consideration is Wednesday, January 19.
“ERAP has been a great tool for Caddo Parish citizens, and we are pleased at the large number of residents who have been assisted through the program,” said Caddo Parish Administrator and CEO Dr. Woodrow Wilson, Jr.
The Parish was notified by the State and Department of the Treasury that the last ERAP1 payment, totaling $5,254,674, will be dispersed in January 2022.
The Parish will continue to consider applications that are currently in the system until all funds have been expended. Due to the number of applications that are currently in the queue, it is expected that all funds will be expended by the end of February 2022. While the ERAP program allows up to 15 months of rental assistance, some applicants that are currently receiving payments may not receive 15 months of payments, as all available funding will be exhausted.
“We hope that there may be an opportunity for ERAP2 funds at some point in the future, but as of today, the Treasury has not determined a date for reallocation of ERAP2 funds,” said Wilson. The Parish has been notified that all ERAP1 reallocation must be completed nationally before the Treasury Department will reallocate ERAP2. There may be an opportunity for ERAP2 funds at some point in the future, but as of today, no date has been determined for reallocation of ERAP2 funds,” said Wilson.
Citizens who wish to apply before the January 19 deadline are urged to visit caddo.covidrenthelp.org for more information and to complete a program application.
